Error codeE40
ApplianceWasher
E40 is a voltage message, and the exact wording changes with the series.
Reading on the WM76S and WM76-86
Here the display is a warning of fluctuating voltage. A long dip under 180 V, or readings over 260 V, were picked up and may interfere with operation. What the manual asks is that you inspect the mains network supplying the washer.
Reading on the WM75.C-P
The wording is simply that the voltage value lies outside the permitted range. Run the program again, and if the code comes back, arrange a technician visit.
When the supply check does not clear E40, phone (415) 993-3547 and ask about Asko washer repair. Have the code, your series and what you found out about the power supply ready.
Model compatibility: Asko reuses codes across series and model years, so E40 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
E40 reports voltage out of range, described as a prolonged drop below 180 V or above 260 V on the WM76S.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, water lines, sealed cooling systems or anything behind a panel. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
